Advertisement for Admission to Ph. D. Programme

Application Form

Applications are invited for admission process to the Ph.D. Programme in Business Management for candidates who have completed their Post Graduate Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Commerce, Social Sciences, Humanities (excluding Fine Arts & Dramatics), Physical Sciences, Law, Library Science, Technology, Medicine or allied disciplines from Calcutta University. Students having similar educational qualifications from other UGC recognized Universities must obtain prior equivalence clearance from the Registrar’s Office, University of Calcutta and inform the Head’s Office on or before 06.09.2011. Further the eligibility of the candidate for the Ph.D. Programme is to be guided by Clause 3 and its Sub-clauses as per ‘Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy , Ph.D. Regulation 2009’ of Calcutta University (subject to endorsement by the concerned Ph.D. Committee).

The candidates are advised to Down Load the Application Form from the University Web Site (Admission Notification) and submit the same to the Office of the Head within 6^th September, 2011. Candidates who are exempted from entrance test under Clause 3.1 of ‘Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. Regulation 2009’ of Calcutta University are required to obtain prior equivalence clearance from the Registrar’s Office, University of Calcutta. Such candidates on getting clearance are required to appear for the interview on the schedule date on prior written intimation to the Head of the Department at least one week before the date of interview. The candidates need to apply in the Application Form as stated above and submit it to the Office of the Head on or before 6^th September, 2011. 

The Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) will be of 100 marks of 3 (three) hours duration. The main modules of setting the Entrance Test Paper will be three namely the following: 

I. Quantitative and logical reasoning with weightage of 40%.

II. ‘Analysis of a Business Issue’ with weightage of 30%.

III. ‘A concept paper (on one of the given research themes)’ with weightage of 30% 

Date, Time & Venue of Examination: 10th September, 2011 at12.00 noon in the Seminar Hall, (7^th floor)

of the Department of Business Management, University of Calcutta, 1,Reformatory Street, Kolkata –700 027. 

List of eligible candidates for PET will be given in the Notice Board of the Department on

8^th September, 2011 after 3 p.m. No personal intimation will be sent to any applicant. 

List of eligible candidates for interview will be given in the Notice Board on 24^th October, 2011. 

Date of interview: 29^th October, 2011 from 11 a.m. onwards.
